2020 Spring Student Concert Weekend
Performing music for others is a great way to grow as a musician. Preparing for a concert helps to focus on clear goals and inspires you to put in the work needed to achieve them. You need to practice strategies to overcome performance anxiety and manage your attention under stress. At the end, you are left with a new found sense of pride and confidence at having accomplished so much.
There is also a great benefit to the attendees who get to hear a unique personal expression in your music and who get to share in the joy of seeing your hard work in action.
That is why we offer a variety of performance opportunities for students and their families at the Eau Claire Music School. Throughout the year, students can choose to participate in as many as they like. These concerts are always FREE for students, families, and friends.
Student Concert Weekend
Twice a year (around the first weekend in December and around the first weekend in May), we have a celebration of music so big that it lasts a whole day. We turn the big, yellow room at the music school into a concert hall and hold several short concerts that are designed to be fun, family friendly, and low stress.
-Twice a year: December and April/May
-Concerts last between 30 to 45 minutes.
-Small, friendly audience helps performers feel at ease.
-Students may dress as they like and play what they like.
-Customized concert programs and a photo booth help to make it an extra special occasion.
All types of students are welcome to participate--adults and children, beginners and advanced. Concerts are held in our recital room at the school. A piano, a sound system, and a drum kit will be available.
The concerts are not overly formal, but we do encourage performers to dress nicely. Other details (memorization, bowing, etc.) should be discussed with your instructor.
Performers can choose from the following times:
Saturday, April 25th: 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, or 2 pm
Once a time slot reaches 12 performers, it will be closed. If needed we can add additional concert times on either Sat. or Sun. to accommodate more performers.
Sign-up is handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Instructors may not be available to attend all concert times. We encourage you to contact your instructor before selecting a time. If you need to change your concert time, simply contact the office.
