ORC 2025/2026 theme query
In the previous newsletter, we announced that NWO asked the Art Route to develop a theme for the ORC* round 2025/2026. In doing so, we called for suggestions for a theme that responds to the gamechanger "Arts as an engine for innovation and reflection in a high-tech society." The responses we received highlighted the important role of arts research for digital transition. They emphasized that arts research is particularly important in connecting technological innovations driving transition to ethical, social and cultural values. An importance that grows as the digital transition becomes more intertwined with other societal transitions and therefore benefits in part from research by knowledge chain-wide consortia.

To better understand exactly what the opportunities and bottlenecks are for arts research in the context of digital transition, we would like to receive your response to the following questions by Monday, Feb. 24, 2025:

Does the digital transition present major ethical dilemmas?
