Honors Experience Form

Instructions: Honors Program students and faculty should identify the applicable honors experience below, complete the requisite information, and submit the form by the last Friday of the first month of the semester.

Honors Eligibility: All admitted Honors Program students are eligible to complete an HEC or Honors Contract. Only Honors Program - Presidential Scholars are eligible to complete Honors Service Projects. Students seeking an honors experience but who have not yet been admitted to the Honors Program must be Honors-eligible, i.e., have a 3.2 GPA or higher, 12+ cumulative credits, and a B+ or higher in ENG 1200/1200A0 and/or ENG 2400. Students who do not meet these criteria but wish to complete an honors experience should reach out to the Honors Program at honors@kbcc.cuny.edu.

Honors Experience: Please identify the proposed honors experience from the list below: *

Honors Contract (HC): Independent honors papers or projects completed one-on-on with a faculty mentor.

Honors Enrichment Component (HEC): Small-group, collaborative honors experiences for a minimum of (3) or more students.

Honors Service Project (HSP): Co-curricular or extracurricular service experiences for eligible Honors Program - Presidential Scholars.

Honors Learning Outcomes: Honors experiences should emphasize at least one of the learning outcomes drafted by the Honors Program community of faculty, staff, and Honors Liaisons. Please note the learning outcome your honors experience incorporates from the list below:

Information Literacy: Collect, verify, document, and/or organize information from a variety of attributable sources

Quantitative Reasoning: Understand and apply mathematical concepts and reasoning and analyze and interpret various types of data

Global Socio-Cultural Responsibility: Demonstrate an awareness of civic and social participation and informed decision-making

Critical Thinking: Demonstrates the skills necessary for analysis, synthesis, evaluation, decision-making, critical and creative thinking, and the creative process

Original Work: Demonstrates comfort in the process of exploration, discovery, tolerance of ambiguity, and the maturity to complete an academic goal
