EUROPEAN PRISON WORK MODELS
Ecological Economics in Prison Work Administration (ECOPRIS) is a transnational European project funded by the EU Commission (Erasmus+) to promote and develop prison staff’ management skills, namely: prison work and industries awareness, ecology, marketing, management, entrepreneurship, communication, ICT, teamwork and integrated reintegration.
Running from 2014 to 2017, its key aims are to prepare prison staff to create and manage “prison work”; to provide opportunities for inmates’ skills development; and also to increase the generation of own funds to be allocated to the fulfilment of prisons’ mission.
How is prison work perceived and structured in European prison systems? This is one of the main questions that ECOPRIS project addresses. BSAFE LAB (Law enforcement, Justice and Public Safety Research and Technology Transfer Laboratory) in close cooperation with the other project partners, developed this questionnaire to be completed by European prison administrations. The purpose of this survey is to collect information on the different models, practices and perceptions of "prison work", that is, the employment activity undertaken by persons subject to freedom-restricting measures.
We are grateful for your assistance in filling out this questionnaire. The survey has 8 pages and will take about 20 minutes to complete. For further details about the project, please contact Nuno Garcia (
