Uptown’s Paddle Wars are a “friendly” neighborhood competition to foster community amongst businesses within Uptown. The doubles tournament will take place on Wednesday, September 12th from 5:00 to 10:00pm. Winners advance to the Play-Offs the same evening.

1. Form a team of two or three players
2. Submit on-line Registration Application
3. Mail $25 fee (or sponsorship) to: Uptown Grand Rapids, P.O. Box 6632, Grand Rapids, MI 49516-6632

4. Receive Participation Packet (rules and FAQ) via e-mail
5. Arrive at scheduled time to play and win!

1. Each team may consist of up to 3 players (third player is optional and may serve as an alternate).
2. Players must be a reasonable representation of their registered business. Business owners, their immediate family members, and employees are eligible to serve on the team. Exceptions will happily be evaluated on a case by case basis.
3. Spaces are limited, up to 8 teams per district. Participation is granted on a first come first serve basis.
4. One team registration per business is suggested. In the event of low district registration, up to two teams per business will be permitted until district cap of 8 teams is reached.

Official tournament schedule will be posted to Uptown Business & Property Owners closed Facebook page two days prior to event (and sent to participants via e-mail).
Winners will advance to the Play-offs the same evening.
Player/Volunteer Recognition Ceremony and Mock Awards immediately follow the play-off games.
Winners’ medals will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places (Gold, Silver, and Bronze).
1st place winning team will be featured in next year’s Paddle Wars marketing, and earn the sweetest bragging rights.
Team attire is open to interpretation. Have fun with this! We encourage themed dress, costumes, or cosplay for team members and spectators! An award will be given for best team attire.

Proceeds benefit Uptown Grand Rapids, Inc., a collaboration of business and neighborhood associations improving and promoting Uptown. We're excited to announce that the 2018 Paddle Wars will seed a special fund to commission public art in Uptown. Dollars raised will be matched by the Uptown Corridor Improvement fund!
