North Shore Lutsen Workshop RSVP
Northern Minnesota communities are deeply dependent on water resources for tourism, recreation, and industrial uses. Water and other natural resources in this region are changing because of shifts in climate and land management in ways that may affect the resilience of communities and the resources they depend upon. Funded by the Minnesota Sea Grant and supported by the Natural Capital Project, Center for Changing Landscapes, and Great Lakes Design Lab, we are utilizing a multidisciplinary approach to build awareness and capacity for the protection and restoration of clean water and resilient communities in ‘coastal’ communities along the north shore of Lake Superior.
The community charrette will allow us to identify stressors of concern, assess preferences and values for different aquatic ecosystem services, and evaluate community capacity to respond to a changing environment. In this workshop you will learn about past research projects and Great Lakes vulnerability, preview results of a statewide and more focused pre-survey regarding water-related concerns, take part in creative mapping activities, and have valuable discussions with community members. Please RSVP by Monday, September 9th.
