Greetings -
The CHAMPS policy campaign works alongside kin and non-kin foster families and other partners to call on policymakers to strengthen family-based foster care. Why? Because when children need foster care, they deserve the stability and healing that comes from well-supported foster families.
We are seeking organizations to join us in writing to Congress about needed reforms.
Foster and kinship families are the backbone of our foster care system, and it is time that we reflect that in our federal policies. Join the CHAMPS campaign and its many local, state and national partners in calling on Congress to take action on behalf of children and youth in foster care. Supporting them in families also leads to success in school, health and well-being and leaving foster care to join a permanent family.
Our recommendations include:
•
Requiring a core set of support services
•
Funding innovations to prevent unnecessary congregate care placements
•
Enhancing diligent recruitment of families
•
Gathering and sharing data on foster care
We're excited to share our recommendations with Congress and hope you will join our advocacy effort. By signing this letter, you demonstrate your organization's support and join in the movement to create better outcomes for children and youth in foster care by supporting families and family-based care.
