Parent Commitment Card

As the parent of a Columbia College student, I know that adjunct faculty enrich my child's education by giving them access to real-world experience. The hands-on professional experience adjuncts bring is one of the most important benefits of a Columbia education. They are the heart of Columbia College's identity and deserve a contract that recognizes the unique resource they represent, their value to students' Columbia experience and to the reputation of the institution.

I support the CFAC, Columbia Faculty Union (P-fac) bargaining committee's fight to protect their collective bargaining rights and seniority; and to secure fair compensation, as well as commitments to authentic diversity initiatives and to compensated professional development. Faculty teaching conditions are student learning conditions. Adjunct faculty are fighting for a fair contract and the quality of my child's education.

I don't want my child to lose even one day of instruction. So, I urge the Columbia College administration to pursue good-faith negotiations with CFAC (P-fac). If no fair contract is offered by November 2018, I will support CFAC (P-Fac) efforts to secure a dignified work environment and quality education.
