School Retool KC Fellowship Application: Fall 2018 Cohort
The Kauffman Foundation is thrilled to partner with the Stanford d.school for a Fall 2018 School Retool cohort. School Retool is a fellowship opportunity that focuses on guiding schools towards deeper learning to positively impact student academic and life outcomes. We are seeking leaders who want to change the status quo of education, are passionate about access to Deeper Learning for all students, are willing and ready to try out a new, immersive learning experience, and are committed to fully participating in the work of the fellowship.

School Retool’s approach is through a three-month professional development fellowship for principals that helps them intentionally design their school culture using small experiments, which can then lead to the kind of bigger change the leader aspires to see within his or her school to best prepare students for life beyond the classroom.

As a School Retool cohort member, you will engage in:
- 4 full-day School Retool workshops at a central location
- Thursday, September 20, 2018
- Thursday, October 11, 2018
- Thursday, November 1, 2018
- Thursday, November 29, 2018
- 1 full-day to shadow a student in your school between Thursday, September 20, 2018 and Thursday, October 11, 2018
- Approximately 1-4 hours per week of other School Retool activities, hacks, and coaching between workshops

School Retool KC is available to school leaders in school that serve at least 40% students who qualify for free- or reduced-price lunch in the following counties: Jackson, Clay, Cass, Platte in Missouri and Johnson, Wyandotte in Kansas. Priority will be given to building principals; assistant principals or instructional coaches may also apply for consideration. The Kauffman Foundation is sponsoring this inaugural cohort, so there will be no cost to schools or districts.

Applications are due by May 4, 2018. Applicants and districts will be notified of selection decisions by May 18, 2018.
