Classical exams will be scheduled between 1st-6th April 2019 and held in East Ham.
Jazz exams will be scheduled between 4th-16th March 2019 and held in Blackheath.
The exams take place during the hours of 9.30am-5pm. You are required to notify your child’s school of their absence.
Please advise us if your child has any special needs including dyslexia, as extra time is allowed in the exams under some circumstances.
Once the exam timetable has been agreed with the exam board we are unable to change it.
If your child is withdrawing from the exam after payment has been made we need written notification no later than the day of the examination. No refund can be given.
If your child cannot take the exam due to sickness please advise us before the exam time and obtain a medical certificate. Please forward it directly to us so that we can send it to the exam board, as they may then give you a refund that will not exceed 75% of the entry fee.
Only original music can be taken in to the exam room: We do not supply any music, these must be purchased before the entry is made. NO PHOTOCOPIES ARE ALLOWED. If you have not got the original music please obtain it from the ABRSM website www.abrsm.org or a music shop.
All fees paid to us are sent directly to the examination board; we do not keep any of the fees, therefore we are unable to give refunds.
If your child requires an accompanist, the Newham Music will provide one. If you require an exam to be taken outside the above dates that requires an accompanist you will be charged for their time.
If you are entering for Grade 6-8 instrumental exam, you must have taken your Grade 5 theory exam. If you have taken your Theory exam with The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music they will have your details on file. If you took it with another exam board you need to provide us with a copy of your certificate so we can send it to the Board.
