Please read through the following, and answer to indicate that you understand and agree to adhere to the Block Runner Core Values.
A Block Runner should strive to adhere to the Spirit of the Game at all times and should encourage his or her fellow players to do the same. Block Runners are held to a higher standard than the average Five Mics player. The 5 Block Runner Core Values are:
1. Welcoming
The Five Mics community is for ALL people regardless of their background, physical/mental capabilities, personal upbringing, or card game experience. A Block Runner treats everyone with respect, courtesy, and high-esteem, and is always inviting people to be a part of the community. A Block Runner is the light on their block that players - new and old - feel comfortable being around.
2. Unbiased
A Block Runner always does what’s best for the Five Mics game and community. A Block Runner acts with integrity at all times, and should be known for being fair and unbiased, whether in hosting/judging a tournament or resolving a dispute. A Block Runner never uses personal feelings about another player to cloud their judgment on how to resolve an issue between players, parents, venue staff, or spectators.
3. Honesty
A Block Runner has a reputation for being honest and trustworthy. A Block Runner does not cheat, swindle, or double-deal, and, as a result, their ruling (e.g. in the case of a dispute) can always be trusted. If a Block Runner has been known to be dishonest, their position in the Block Runner Program may be jeopardized.
4. Knowledgeable
A Block Runner should remain sharp and up-to-date with the Five Mics cards, game rules, and specific card rulings. When asked to clarify or resolve a dispute, a Block Runner must first ensure that their response is 100% true according to the official Five Mics rules and, if there’s any doubt, must not provide an answer until consulting the rulebook, another Block Runner, and/or a Five Mics Studios representative. A Block Runner must use the language of Five Mics when explaining and discussing the game even if there are other terms from other games that may feel like synonyms (e.g. “dirt” and not graveyard, “stage” and not field, “round” and not turn, etc.).
5. Responsible
Block Runners are trusted with a great deal of responsibility. If a Block Runner organizes a Five Mics event, it is critical that all event reporting is done in a timely manner. In addition, a Block Runner working an official Five Mics event is responsible for ensuring that all event prizes and participation rewards are handed out according to the event guidelines. In addition, it is irresponsible to make negative comments publicly about Five Mics the card game, Five Mics Studios or any of its employees without first trying to resolve these issues with Five Mics Studios via private communication. Negative comments made publicly only hurt the brand, the game, the company, the community, and the Block Runners program.
