Bee City Phoenix Garden Certification Interest Form
Making the World Safer for Pollinators One City at a Time

Pollination is the very foundation of our ecosystem, producing seeds and fruits and providing food for wildlife, and us, to thrive. Many of our insect pollinator friends — bees, flies, wasps, beetles, butterflies and moths — are struggling to find nutritious food and safe places to nest. By meeting the requirements of certification, you will be creating vital pollinator habitat that lessens the stress on pollinators and helps support a healthy ecosystem for our community and our future.

Steps to being certified:
  1. Complete and submit this interest form
  2. Be scheduled for a garden visit with our certifiers
  3. Garden visit occurs
  4. Garden certification and garden sign are delivered post garden visit
  5. Certified garden photos and locations are added to the Phoenix pollinator garden map and website (optional)

Garden Meets Pollinator Requirements:
  1. No pesticides or herbicides used inside or outside within 20 feet of the garden perimeter.
  2. The garden has a '3 & 3'. This means three bee attracting plants that collectively provide blooms for at least three months, in the window of February-September.
  3. The garden has native plants. Do not worry if you are not sure, we can help you identify native plants.
  4. The garden has a bee watering hole. Bees are little guys and need a safe and friendly water source, such as a shallow dish filled with marbles or pebbles, cleaned frequently.
  5. The garden has a bee crib. This is a place for bees to catch a few zzzzz. Some habitat supporting bee 'hotels' include: taller grass (ornamental or other) or some uncultivated area left ungroomed containing branches, leaves, or grass.
  6. The gardener has attempted or agrees to attempt to source Neonicotinoid free seeds and plants.
