Apply for EnviroLab Asia's Subvention Fund
EnviroLab Asia seeks to support 5C faculty in their production of new knowledge about the interaction between nature, the built environment, and human populations in Asia. The EnviroLab Asia Subvention Fund provides funding to support the production of any academic product (manuscript, journal article, book, art project, etc.) about environmental issues in East and Southeast Asia. For example, funds may be used for copy editing or indexing of a book in preparation for publication. Funding is available for up to $2,000 and must to be used by December 31, 2018.

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, and strongly encourage applicants from the Sciences and/or non-Asian Studies backgrounds to apply.

The application is due November 3, 2017.

Subvention Fund recipients will be asked to participate in assessment activities, and other reporting to the Henry Luce Foundation.

Applications will be evaluated based on the guiding principles of EnviroLab Asia, summarized below:
• Create a space for the production of new knowledge about the interaction between nature, the built environment, and human populations in East and Southeast Asia
• Utilize cross-disciplinary approaches
• Encourage 5C exchanges between and across campuses, utilize the current resources at the Claremont Colleges, and/or encourage community-building between and among 5C campus communities
• Increase faculty and students’ capacities to effectively influence debates on environmental issues as well as present innovative solutions to challenges resulting from environmental problems
