To be eligible as a Byron Spirit Volunteer, we ask that you agree to the following:
REQUIREMENTS: You must attend the Volunteer Orientation Meeting two days prior to the start of the festival and on be available for all three days of the festival and complete all shift requirements of up to 12 hours of volunteer work in exchange for full festival pass. Please bring a photo ID the orientation meeting. If you are unable to do a shift due to emergency you must contact the volunteer coordinator as soon as possible. CHECK-IN: You will be required to check in at the Volunteer station 20 minutes before your shift. It is important that you do this so we know your shift is covered. If you are unavoidably running late or can’t make your shift please call the volunteer check in area. ATTENDING CLASSES & EVENTS: It is festival policy that fully paid patrons have priority of entry to all festival workshops. We ask you to respectfully wait for paid patrons to enter the workshop space first & then you will have access 5 minutes before the workshop begins. SAFETY: You must comply with all safety requirements associated with the volunteer position and attend the OH&S induction at volunteer orientation meeting. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFTEY (OH&S) 1.The Volunteer understands the hazards and risks associated with their activities and have an established system and procedure for managing the OH&S risks. This includes a recently inspected and approved fire extinguisher. 2. All machinery operators to have current operating certificates carried on their person at all times (if applicable). 3. Persons working outside to have sun protection at all times – shirt, pants, hat and sunscreen on exposed skin. 4. Enclosed footwear to be worn at all times when working with equipment set up, pack down and with food preparation. 5. No person to work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. 6. Persons taking prescribed medications should advise their Supervisor. 7. No person to lift a load greater than 20kg without assistance. 8. No person to work at a height of 2.4m or greater without fail arrest system. 9. Persons working in area where work is occurring overhead to wear hardhat protection. 10. All incidents to be reported immediately to Joanne Langton, the volunteer coordinator. As a volunteer of the Byron Spirit Festival I take full responsibility for all my actions during the event and agree to hold The Byron Spirit Festival, it’s employees and any associates harmless from any incident, damage, unexpected injuries, losses, claims or demands that may take place during the festival due to my actions or actions associated with me. We are do not have accommodation for our volunteers. If you would like to camp click on accommodation on our website for info, otherwise there are many homes that rent rooms on airbnb.
