The Leadership & Empowerment Institute will train you to become a courageous and bold leader who is ready to challenge gender injustice in our community and beyond. You will have an opportunity to learn about Indo-Caribbean history, including a focus on Indo-Caribbean women's history. You will engage in a healing and transformative process that will allow you to realize your potential, discover your purpose and step into your full personal power. We will provide two coaching sessions to support you with this process. Furthermore, to support your feminist leadership, you will engage in political education that will allow you to build an intersectional gender justice analysis. And, you will learn new skills in community organizing, direct action, advocacy, communications, and fundraising.
Please note that this is a 6-month training program. It opens with a 2-day retreat on Saturday, October 21st and Sunday, October 22nd, 2017 followed by 5 full-day sessions from November 2017 through March 2018. The sessions will be held on the second Saturday of each month: November 11th, December 9th, January 13th, February 10th and March 10th at the Blue Star Center of New York (125-02 111th Avenue, Richmond Hill, NY 11420). For folks coming from the Bronx, ride shares will be arranged for you to travel to Queens.
Attendance is required at all sessions. There is a $150 tuition for the entire Leadership & Empowerment Institute. If you are unable to pay this fee, scholarships are available. The deadline to apply for the program has been extended to Friday, September 30th.
