Permaculture Application 2024
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Northern Green Gathering 2024. The event will be held over the weekend of 15th-18th August at our new site in the Wakefield area. The site is close to public transport links and the M62. Further details will be released closer to the time.
Northern Green Gathering exists to promote sustainability, alternative energy, positive change and hope. We are a not for profit organization run by unpaid volunteers.
The Permaculture Area is focused on showcasing the work of people engaged in Permaculture work and Design. Please use this application if you wish to be part of our area.
1. - Joining the Permaculture Crew -
Thank you for your interest in joining us in the Permaculture Area.
We ask our volunteers to complete a minimum of 2 or 3 shifts of 4 to 6 hours each over the weekend.
2.- We exist so that you may come help to run the Permaculture Area as part of a cohesive and mutually supporting group, and tell us about your work and field of interest, whether in an organized Workshop/presentation, a Skill share activity, at an information stall, or informally around our campfire.
3. -We will have a morning meeting every during the set up, the course of the Gathering, and set down so that we can introduce ourselves to the group, discuss the days tasks and activities, go over any issues or concerns, and bond as a group.
4. - How can we help you to achieve and enhance it your Permaculture dreams ? - We can all share and apply our knowledge and practices, get others involved, run demonstrations, share experiences, explore the bounty of nature around the site. You can be part of a community of people who can work, celebrate and share time together, prepare food and spend these days in a low impact, fun and bonding way, inspiring each other and those that come into the Permaculture garden.
5.- Permaculture is very broad ranging and we encourage a wide variety of topics. We also encourage Arts, Poetry and Music that can express our issues, encouraging a multi-disciplinary approach to Permaculture, both for the effectiveness of messaging and for the celebration of life that is part of our Gathering.
6.- We are always keen for more Permaculture talks and Demonstrations to explain what true sustainability looks like (in a world of greenwash). Just tell us what you do, and what you want to achieve.
7.- Permaculture Talks/Stalls/Tables. In return for your workshops we offer a ticket to enjoy the event, and one vehicle pass, if needed - and, unless you can only come for a short time to present a workshop, we ask that you also agree to volunteer your time to help run the Permaculture space, and support the running of NGG in whatever capacity is most appropriate for you and for the urgent needs of NGG.
8.- If you need to bring more than one person for your activity we ask you to buy a half price 'plus one' ticket for any additional person. Any others beyond that will need to purchase tickets, or sign up as volunteers for our event (much needed)
9.- Tables - You can book a space for a table in our Campaigns Cafe marquee if you don't have your own. Tables are free, but must be booked in advance with your application.
10.- 'Think Global Act Local' - We believe local is better. The nearer you live to Wakefield, or the more your issue affects us in this area, the more keen we are to book you.
11.-Our Gathering is entirely powered by solar and bike power using the latest and most efficient technologies. please do not bring any generators onsite, ensure any packaging is sustainable, and that any merchandise you sell is ethically produced where possible.
12.- Complementary Tickets
Our policy on partner or helper tickets (your “plus one”) is as follows:- we ask that all helpers do one or more shifts to help with the running of the event. Stewarding, Crew kitchen, Welfare, Site takedown & Re-cycling are our most needed positions, but there are many ways to support the Gathering and our Volunteer Coordinator can help to find a time slot that works for you both. Please ask your helper to fill out a 'Volunteer Application' from the “Get Involved” page on the website. and write in the last box that they are also supporting a Workshop Applicant/stallholder.
Please complete this form and we will endeavour to get back to you within a few weeks of your application.
