Department Organizing: Talk to your department and keep them in the loop about union actions and events, and get a sense of their interests and concerns. Help keep information flowing within the union, and keep the members on your turf in the loop.
Socials:
Help with social events—order/pick up food, make sure everyone has forks, clean up, etc. This is a straightforward way to help out the organizing!
Data:
Keep the backend data clean and organized so that Department Organizers have a solid infrastructure. This mostly involves spreadsheet and making nice forms, but if you are very good with computers this is also a good place to hop in.
Research:
Look into the historical and current conditions at IU and elsewhere: SAA Stipends, the IU budget, other unionization efforts and their impact. The writing crew will use this research to continue making a strong case for a better IU. If you are interested in creating data visualizations this is also the spot for you.
Writing:
Craft compelling and punchy writing for newsletters, op-eds, research reports, pitch ideas and other copy
Design:
Do you know photoshop? Are you artistically inclined? Help make banners for actions/events, flyers for social media, buttons, etc.
Labor Spring:
Help plan out events for Labor Spring (a series of lectures and socials to build up worker solidarity in April).
State-Wide Organizing:
Work with other university workers across the state to plan a statewide coalition that can make an impact beyond just IU.
Not Sure:
Fair enough! Luckily there is almost always some place to put your skills to use.
