FIRST Robotics Team 1529 the CyberCards 2020-21 Application
The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Competition team 1529, The CyberCards, strives to create an environment that fosters interest and excitement for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers by teaching team members the technical skills needed for success in future STEM careers. Our students will work to complete a business plan, a website, and other outreach material as well as work with engineers and professionals from local companies and businesses to design, build, and program build a 120 lb. robot in just six weeks.

The build- season starts in early January and goes to about mid-February. During this time, students are required to put in 12+ hours a week. The team travels extensively during the competition season, which is late February through April depending on the events the team signs up for and how far we advance.

We also meet year-round on Wednesday evenings for technical training, leadership training, and outreach events organization. We will have many outreach events during the off season as way to spread the word of FIRST.
Some student expectations include:
• Adhere to the CyberCards Handbook
• Set up an account on Slack and check it daily
• Register with FIRST online
• Attend mandatory meetings such as kickoff and Cage Match.
• Veteran Students
o must log in a minimum of 24 hours of outreach participation over a minimum of 3 events to qualify for trips.
o must attend a minimum of 80% of team meetings
o must raise $500 through fundraisers or sponsor donations 2
o must maintain a C- or better in all classes to qualify for trips, not as an average Rookie Students: (A student is labeled a Veteran Student after he/she has completed one build season.) Must successfully pass multiple tests regarding safety, team outreach, game rules, and the robot.
• Rookies Students
o must log in a minimum of 12 hours of outreach participation over a minimum of 2 events to qualify for trips.
o must attend a minimum of 60% of team meetings to qualify for trips.
o must raise $250 through fundraisers or sponsor donations to qualify for trips.
o must maintain a C- or better in all classes to qualify for trips, not as an average.
