Important: Noting that you would like to be contacted about any of the work mentioned below does not constitute a hard and fast commitment. We know people's circumstances can be unpredictable.

Mutual aid is a term to describe people giving each other needed material support, and trying to resist the control dynamics, hierarchies and oppressive arrangements of charity and social services. Mutual aid projects understand that we cannot rely on the systems currently in place to meet the needs of everyone in our community. We aim to help create horizontal pathways for people to help one another. We strive for transparency of our aid and welcome all to join in building solidarity within Avondale and Chicago. Mutual aid projects are a form of political participation in which people take responsibility for caring for one another and changing political conditions, not just through symbolic acts or putting pressure on their representatives in government, but by actually building new social relations that are more survivable. We are building this as we go and figuring it out, and we'd love for you to be a part of it!
