We, the student body, believe this lack of consultation is not in line with the values of Kingston that we hold dear, and indeed, attracted us to the University in the first place. The Board of Governors should not be making decisions about the future of students and staff without any prior conversation. Senior management should not be forcing redundancy on staff that inspire and engage us.This is especially disappointing when we, the student body, have recently found out that the previous Vice Chancellor is earning £251,461 as the 'president' KU. (http://riveronline.co.uk/weinberg-to-earn-quarter-of-a-million-as-ku-president-following-resignation-as-vc/)
At a time where student numbers are dropping, and student experience is worsening, it is time for the senior management to listen to students say: WE STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH OUR STAFF AND DEMAND THE PROPOSALS TO BE SUSPENDED AND A GENUINE CONSULTATION DELIVERED.
