Each year the UCU Surrey Branch undertakes a “Not the Staff Survey” because there are certain questions and areas which we consider to be insufficiently addressed in the University’s People Survey.
For example, a change that has been of substantial concern to the UCU is the removal of the question “My views are considered when the University makes significant decisions” since 2022 when the scoring for this question was low. The question was replaced with a different question: “I have the opportunity to feed into my department/faculty when significant decisions are being made”. Therefore in order to distinguish the difference of opinion between these two questions we are including them also in this survey and the results presented as percentages will be made available once this survey closes.
Please note that the anonymised free text box comments will be shared with:
(i) the Surrey UCU Committee, with a view that your comments (raw data) may also be shared with
(ii) Senior Management at UoS
We are not asking for your name and/or union membership number. We are explicitly asking that you do not include identifying information/personal data in the free text box (e.g. gender, role, grade). Free box entries that include personal data will not be included in the final collation.
The committee will analyse the written information to help inform us of the major issues that need addressing.
Colleagues who are not UCU members are welcome to complete this survey.
