POETRIO Event Proposal
Poetrio is the Malaprop's poetry event that most reliably attracts an enthusiastic and attentive audience. At Poetrio, we host three different poets each month, January through November. The event takes place on the first Sunday of the month at 3:00 p.m. It lasts for about an hour.

The Poetrio poets have all published, ordinarily within the year previous to the event, and they read by invitation only.

They always seem to enjoy reading together and becoming acquainted with one another if they haven't yet met. Because of Asheville’s reputation as a "writers' home," we usually have several additional poets in the audience, as well as many other "regulars" who are eager to welcome and hear new poets each month -- or to welcome back poets whose work they know and who will present new work. Our audience seems most interested in hearing poets read from their most recent work, and we like to feature one book for each poet at each event.

We promote the Poetrio events in our printed events calendars, on our website (www.malaprops.com), on social media, and to our e-mail list.

Please complete this form if you would like to participate as a reader in a Poetrio event. Please note that applications generally outnumber available openings and we cannot invite everyone who applies to read. If you don't hear back within 8 weeks, feel free to follow up with an email to poetrio@malaprops.com.
