Flip the Script - Building API undocumented power through artivism
Flip the Script is a community project that seeks to expand art-in-activism, or artivism, and to grow the leadership of undocumented Asian Pacific Islanders in San Francisco Bay Area. The arts will catalyze community education around issues affecting undocumented communities and build practices of healing among undocumented youth to transform stigma and fear over their immigration status into self-determination and agency for long-term change. This project will also help fortify the bridge that we have built with other communities of color, in particular, the Latino community through our partnership with artist Julio Salgado (juliosalgadoart.com).

During this project, we will be exploring the myriad of experiences that immigrant communities have gone through that have affected our mental health and healing and present our visions into reality. Participants will learn from and work with Julio Salgado for one year in monthly art workshops to explore, experiment, and create art pieces illustrating their many intersecting identities to showcase in at least one of two pop-art events. Participants will also design and lead at least one panel with Julio Salgado and other community members to evaluate their creative and healing process.
