EMPLOYMENTW2L members are provided with full-time seasonal jobs through Whistler Blackcomb (WB). Typically our members work in jobs related to: food and beverage, rental and retail, ski lift operations, and guest services. Zero Ceiling works closely with WB managers to ensure you succeed in the workplace.
HOUSINGMembers will be living in WB staff accommodation, which is subsidized by Zero Ceiling. WB provides 24hr support through their resident advisor program, with which the Zero Ceiling youth worker works closely. W2L program members share a bedroom with another member in a two bedroom unit.
SUPPORT A Zero Ceiling support worker supports W2L members in their transition up to Whistler and throughout their entire time spent in the program. This is done through one-to-one meetings, group activities, workplace assistance, and general support and advocacy. Members in the second six months will also be paired with a suitable mentor to further support their independence.
ADVENTUREThe W2L crew meets weekly to go mountain biking in the summer and skiing/snowboarding in the winter. We start the season off with beginner lessons and gradually work up to intermediate terrain and beyond and are able to explore the trails of Whistler. We also participate in other adventure activities, such as zip lining, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, hiking and much more. At Zero Ceiling we believe in the power of adventure and the personal growth that comes from the inherent challenge.
WHAT ELSE DO I GET OUT OF IT?• A free seasons pass for Whistler Blackcomb resort (ski pass for winter, bike park pass for summer)• Opportunities to access training courses of your choice.• A fresh start in a new community.
WARNINGDrug and alcohol use is highly prevalent in Whistler and those in our programs will likely come into direct contact with such activities. If you are currently working to abstain from drinking or using drugs Whistler may not be a positive environment to put yourself in. There are limited resources available for those who are in the process of quitting as well. IF you have any questions regarding this information I encourage you to contact me.
