Marion Resourcers Movement Spring 2023 Training Application 
Welcome to the Spring 2023 Marion Resourcers Movement training application! Marion County Environmental Services is pleased to offer residents a free six-week course designed to develop the next group of sustainability leaders!

The new volunteer program will educate participants about sustainable materials management (life cycle impacts of our stuff) while supporting community sustainability efforts aimed at waste reduction locally.

Each week, cohort members will learn about specific waste reduction issues that Marion County residents face and work together to imagine and develop tailored solutions for their own communities.

The Spring training will be held in Salem, OR at the new Salem YMCA building with meals included for attendees. The deadline to submit your application is Wednesday April 19th, 2023 at 7pm. Classes start Tuesday April 25th. Class dates and times below:

Tuesday April 25th 5:30pm-8pm
Saturday April 29th 9am-1:30pm (field trip half day touring recycling, disposal facilities and sustainable business).
Group bus transportation included for field trip day.
Tuesday May 2nd 5:30pm-8pm
Tuesday May 9th 5:30pm-8pm
Tuesday May 16th 5:30pm-8pm
Tuesday May 23rd 5:30pm-8pm
Tuesday May 30th 5:30pm-8pm

The program is free, but there is a requirement to volunteer 15 hours to receive your official volunteer certification following graduation from the program. How do you plan on achieving the 15 hour payback requirement? Payback requirements should align with program waste prevention, reuse, and recycling goals.

This training will also focus on organizing community projects around sustainability. What community project ideas do you have that would support waste prevention in Marion County? Projects can include things like education, events, repair fairs, advocacy, swaps, workshops, etc.. The sky is the limit! That said, projects don't have to be fully formed and aren't mandatory.
