Designed by Warehouse Eight and Kwago, Komura; Creators Grant aims to empower the local, independent press community across the Philippines by funding a creative with a mad idea to help him/her turn the concept into reality. We believe that exploring the possibilities of storytelling require financial support so we partner with art patrons to make this happen.
We aim to launch three types of grants (the other two in the near future!): (1) Zines; (2) Book; and (3) New Media.
A zine is a small printed publication often cheaply made with fewer than a hundred copies of each issue. It originated with sci-fi fanzines in the 1930s, and has evolved into new forms as we know it today.
In partnership with Komura;, homegrown logistics company Xend is giving away 15,000 pesos to a Filipino creative who has a crazy idea for a zine. The money must be used to make at least 70 copies of a concept. The concept should make us go “WTF!” Like the attached examples below.
The contest is open nationwide from May 15 to June 10 to all Filipino citizens, or former Filipino citizens, 16 and above, except employees of XEND, Warehouse Eight and Kwago. We will be accepting pitches here and we'll send you an email on how to proceed with the applications.
