Art Fair on the Square is a unique opportunity to connect with potential fans, supporters, and followers.
We hope you’ll consider a performance for the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) at our signature event, Art Fair on the Square, and help us make a lasting impression on old and new friends in the community.
By performing pro-bono at Art Fair on the Square, you’re helping MMoCA offer free admission to nearly 200,000 visitors annually and to provide ongoing art education programs for the community.

Acceptance CriteriaMMoCA aims to present a diverse selection of talented performers at Art Fair on the Square each year. Your application will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
•Talent and diversity of performance•Age and audience appropriateness (e.g., is the performance suitable for all ages and for the Art Fair atmosphere?)•Past Art Fair experience and/or a strong reference/referral Application ProcessIn order to be considered for a performance opportunity, the enclosed application form must be received by Sunday, March 4, 2018. Art Fair on the Square serves as the primary fundraiser for MMoCA, Madison's only museum of modern and contemporary art.
Benefits of VolunteeringAs a non-profit organization we are unable to offer cash payments to performers. However, in exchange for their time and talent, Art Fair performers will receive the following benefits: •The opportunity to increase recognition with hundreds of thousands of art enthusiasts.•The opportunity to sell recordings, videos, and promotional materials at one of the largest outdoor events in the Midwest.•Recognition in the official guide to Art Fair on the Square.•Coupons for free food and drink on the day of performance for each performer.
Performance LocationMMoCA schedules entertainment at two live stages and one performance area located around Capitol Square. Slots are 60 minutes long with 30 minute breaks between sets for set-up and tear down.
All accepted performers will be assigned a designated stage area, and set up/start/end times. In light of permit requirements and safety of all involved, MMoCA can only allow performances to take place in approved areas.
SoundBasic amplification is provided at each stage. Accepted performers will receive further information about the sound equipment available at their assigned performance location in June.
Promo SalesA table no larger than 4' x 6' may be placed near your stage up to 15 minutes before your performance, and must be removed no later than 15 minutes after your performance. No tents are allowed unless prior consent has been given by the Director of Events.
