Faculty/Staff Sign Up for Service Learning

Service Learning is a blend of studying and volunteering. Learning goals and community service are incorporated in ways that enhance student growth that emphasizes community engagement.
Service Learning involves students in an organized community service activity through classroom direction and projects that address local needs and academic learning.

BCC Service Learning  Requirements:
    A minimum of 10 hours of service
    Relevant Learning tied to the curriculum
    A Reflection Piece

Service Learning Forms
Student Sign Up - online form required for all students.
Student Agreement/Release of Liability.  Required for all students.


Placement Form- required for individual Service Learning projects
Student Hours- required for Individual  Service Learning Projects
Evaluation Form -required for individual Service Learning projects

At the end of the term, faculty will send a verified list of all students that have successfully completed service-learning assignments to include name and student ID numbers.   The list is verified and sent to the Office of Registration.  Service Learning is noted on the academic transcript.  Students can earn multiple service-learning notations on their transcripts.

Service Learning Projects need to be completed during the semester the course is offered.  Students must sign up for Service Learning prior to the end of the semester.  The names are sent to the Registration office  the last day of the term to be noted on their transcripts.
