A New Political Group for Alaskans

Thank you for participating in our survey and supporting this effort!

We're an informal group of Alaskans who have been part of an ongoing discussion about what a grassroots, homegrown political party could look like.  As we develop this new political group, we are asking for feedback from you, our Alaskan neighbors.

Background

In 2020, Alaskan voters approved the "Alaska Top-Four Ranked-Choice Voting and Campaign Finance Laws Initiative." This new system of voting opened up primary elections, moved major decisions to the general elections, and opened a world of possibilities for small parties and local political groups to organize.

The majority of Alaskans don't identify as Republicans or Democrats, we're primarily non-partisan and undeclared voters who operate without any organizing structure. This political independence is a badge of honor for many but when it comes time for collective action, efforts can feel scattershot or isolated. Capacity has to be built anew for each campaign and there's little room for the development of a long term vision.

Survey Plans

With this survey, we're interested in your thoughts on a party that isn't driven by outside funding, has a focus on Alaskan policy, and operates specifically for the benefit of Alaskans. What could that look like?

Our organizers are generally on the center to progressive end of the political spectrum but we're open to any Alaskan participating in this exercise. You're not committing to join anything, just helping us get some more perspective.

The results of this survey will be made available to the public.
