Calling all Teachers & Students k-12 in the Tucson area!
WHAT? WHEN? WHERE?
Tucson Clean and Beautiful and Children’s Museum Tucson invites teachers and students k-12th grade to participate in the R.U.M.B.A. (Re-Used Materials Becoming Art) showcase and competition. The “Recycled Art” competition will be held on Saturday April 20th, 2024 at the Children’s Museum Tucson Earth Day Event. Any material can be used to make RUMBA, if it has already been used and might be on its way to the trash or recycling bin, use it! Scraps of fabric, material, paper, wood, old toys, and parts of broken things are the foundation for this art.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
R.U.M.B.A. Creations must be submitted by class, individually or as a group. We encourage group projects! Creations must be in the form of a wall hanging, no larger than 4 ft. to fit in pre-designated wall space inside the Children's Museum. Entries must be exclusively comprised of used materials. Fastening materials and hardware for hanging may include tape, glue, wall hooks, and/or string. Earth Day event attendees will submit votes for various categories for K-12th grade entries. Participants' artwork will be exhibited during the Children’s Museum Earth Event, April 20th in the Fiesta room. Winning entries will be relocated and exhibited throughout the Children’s museum for one month! Special prizes and award certificates will be sent to the winners after the event.
