Help secure live-streaming for crucial climate lawsuit #NoToHeathrow
In March 2019, the High Court will hear the legal challenges of Friends of the Earth, Plan B, local resident Mr Neil Spurrier & others against the Government's plans to expand Heathrow Airport.
The case will be hugely significant for efforts to tackle climate change as well as the lives of local residents. That’s why we’ll be asking the court to live-stream the hearing - so that everyone interested has an opportunity to follow the proceedings, including those who aren’t able to attend in person.
To assist with our request to the court we need to show that hundreds of people want to follow at least part of the proceedings online.
We need to demonstrate that large numbers of people care passionately about the issues at stake – from local air pollution and noise impacts to the global fight against climate change - and have a particular interest in this case.
Additionally, we believe live-streaming to be a beneficial demonstration of the transparency of the UK’s justice system. It’s been done on occasion before, so it’s technically feasible.
