2020 Downtown Chili Cook-Off
Although the holidays are upon us, we are looking forward to kicking off 2020 with Downtown’s annual fundraiser, the 26th Annual Downtown Chili Cook-Off. The Downtown Traverse City Association will be hosting this chili challenge on Saturday, January 18, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. We hope that you will join us!

The Chili Cook-Off has grown in popularity and attendance. The 2019 event resulted in over 1,200 patrons, voting for their favorite. What a great way to showcase your business to our community. We are excited to announce that we will be back at the Park Place Hotel this year! We expect a very large crowd again for this year. Parking in the Larry C. Hardy Parking Garage makes easy access for restaurants and attendees. The Chili Cook-Off has space for approximately 10-12 restaurants to participate, dependent upon how many chilies are entered. We’d love to showcase you and your best chilies. The event is designed to be fun, with great public exposure. As usual, there will be news coverage prior to and during the event, and awards given in eight categories as well as the overall People’s Choice Award.

Bring enough of your most creative and exciting chili to the Cook-Off at the Park Place Hotel on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Please remember that we served approximately 1,200 people last year. In the past, restaurants have brought anywhere from 30 to 35 gallons of each chili. Expect to bring more if you plan on competing in the white chili category. Restaurants will need to be set up no later than 10:30 a.m. The public will again be the judge of the best chilies in town in the eight categories, plus the People’s Choice Award.

The DTCA will provide a $100 stipend to participants. All supplies, ramekins, napkins, spoons, etc. will be provided by the DTCA. Details will be provided as we get closer to the event. Deadline to participate is December 20, 2019. We will notify you of acceptance no later than December 30, 2019. Please email colleen@downtowntc.com for questions.
