This grant is for early career scientists only, according to EGU's definition. The nominee needs to satisfy the following criterion by 1 January 2019: be an undergraduate or postgraduate (Masters/PhD) student or a scientist who has received his or her highest degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) within the past seven years. Provided parental leave fell into that period, up to one year of parental leave time may be added per child, where appropriate. The person receiving the grant must be the first and presenting author of their contribution. The abstract must comply with the EGU Abstract Guidelines and Rules. Support is only provided to persons from developing countries.
Financial support is limited. You may apply for both full and partial funding. Abstracts must be submitted to the GAW Programme via this form by 1 December 2018. The GAW selection committee will decide about awarding support to individual contributions by 22 December 2018. All applicants will be informed after the decision. In case the applicant is not able to attend the conference without receiving full funding, we recommend to submit the abstract to EGU only after the decision on funding has been taken.
Please note that you can not receive full GAW funding in addition to another travel grant. We encourage every applicant to look and apply for other funding opportunities. In case you receive funding from another source, you must declare this additional funding immediately, once confirmed. You may still be eligible for partial funding in order to cover your total costs.
