At a Climate Training, students learn about Climate Change from other students through engaging in a slide presentation and discussions, working on their ability to speak with knowledge and authority about Climate Change, and practicing sharing that presentation with other students and adults. We will be learning how to plant a tree, using a game to learn about Climate Justice, and brainstorming techniques to enable students to take action. The Climate Training experience centers on developing students' knowledge and ability to present this information to others—encouraging themselves and others to act on Climate Change.

FREE to students in 4th - 12th grades. Includes meals, t-shirt and the book "Tree By Tree".

Location:
Pringle Creek Community, Painters Hall

Parents will be free from about 11:00 to 12:30 and are welcome to volunteer during that time, or leave and return in time for the students' presentation. If you plan to volunteer, please register as a volunteer on our volunteer registration page and note that you are a parent.

Special needs/Behavioral issues
We make every effort to engage the students fully throughout the Climate Training day. However, if your child has special needs (such as ADHD) that would interfere with their and other students’ participation, we require that one parent volunteer for the Academy so that you can be responsible for supervising and supporting your child’s participation to ensure the best experience possible for them and for other students. Also, we reserve the right to call parents to pick up their child if their child’s participation with other students is not working.

Thoughts about How to Help *
You can fill this out for your students, but if possible, ask them to complete this question with you. How would your Youth-Climate-Leader-to-be like to help make a difference for our planet? We support student leaders in presenting the climate slideshow at their school. Of the endless ways our families make a difference, here is a short list of actions our student leaders have taken. Check all that you are interested in.

For the student to answer: Why do you want to come to a Youth Climate Training to learn about Climate Change?
(This question is not required, but encouraged. :-)) Discuss with your child why they would want to come, and then ask them to write a two-sentence essay answer. (More is okay, but two-sentences should be completely sufficient.)
