Reclaiming Our Roots: Winter 2025-26 Application
Thank you for your interest in writing for Reclaiming Our Roots- a Forest School Collective.  

This seasonal digital magazine is a living mycelium of forest school and outdoor education community to connect with other educators and provide support to our community. Each issue will consist of features unique for the season along with traditional magazine subsections consistent in every issue.

We are looking for original articles in these areas:

Fresh Ideas- quick, real-world tips- a photo and a short write-up of an activity, invitation, or nature-based idea that’s worked beautifully- 60 words or fewer and picture.

Wildcrafting- a more in-depth feature for seasonal crafts, projects, or outdoor provocations—equipping educators with ideas to adapt and share- 150- 200 words and 2-3 pictures.

Nature Kin- stories or short reflections about a beloved plant, animal, tree, or fungus each season—reminding us that we are kin with the living world- 150- 600 words and 3-4 pictures.

Nourish- a seasonal recipe— celebrating wild and local foods- 150- 200 words and 2-3 pictures.

Tending- a book review— sharing a resource that supports our work and sparks new ideas- 150- 200 words and a picture of the book.

What's in Your Backpack?- a sharing resource for your own personal forest school toolbox- 150- 200 words and 2-3 pictures.

Applications must be submitted by January 31, and artiles submitted by January 16!!

IF CHOSEN, we ask that you share our magazine sales page on your social media or newsletters- reclaiming.our.roots.magazine https://www.instagram.com/reclaiming.our.roots.magazine?igsh=OTEzOTZ3OXl6c2Jr&utm_source=qr  instagram. Sales page coming soon! Your work will be minimally edited to be formatted into our online magazine. We will also showcase our contributors on our social media. This is the start of a collective- to grow the forest school and outdoor education community, and create a mycelium of connection and support for everyone-- our prices will be kept reasonable so that all can benefit from this resource!
