10:00 a.m. Worship Feedback
Please provide feedback on the worship gathering.
What name could formally be adopted for this gathering time?
Celebration of Joy
On the scripture...
I'd like to hear a full set of scripture (Old Testament, Psalm, Epistle, Gospel)
I'd like to focus more on the New Testament (Gospel and Epistles)
I'd like just two readings... the Gospel and anything else
I think what we do now is fine
With the offering...
I like having the plates outside of the worship space so people can give their offering as they leave
I like it to be a part of the worship by passing the plates through the pews
Prayer time - individual
I'd like an opportunity for individual prayer at or near the altar during communion
I'd like an opportunity for individual prayer at the conclusion of worship - either at the altar or in the front pews
I'd like the opportunity for prayer and mediation before or after worship - either in the sanctuary or the chapel
Prayer time - as community
I prefer prayers that don't sound scripted and sound more free-flowing and in the moment
People should be able to share their joys (testimony) and concerns out loud... followed by a pastoral prayer
I am comfortable with a litany: prayers that are written out and planned ahead of time
Music - leadership
I'd like to have a strong lead singer or cantor help lead the songs
I'd like to have our Sanctuary Choir help lead songs once a month
I'd like to have our own small vocal group or choir to help lead the songs just for this gathering
I am comfortable without a leader
Music - instruments
I'd like to have a folk group, with acoustic instruments and piano
I'd like a full worship band with electronic instruments and drums (piano/organ/keyboard included)
I only want piano and pipe organ
I'd like to see a balance of everything
Music - styles
I prefer a folk style worship with light, easy singable tunes
I'd love to hear gospel, spirituals and more songs I can clap to
I like newer hymns and contemporary worship songs
I like traditional hymns and chants
I'd like to have a mixture of everything
Worship - structure
I like the traditional pattern of worship, with music throughout (just like we have right now)
I'd like the majority of the music to be in the beginning, followed by prayer, sermon and communion
I'd like the majority of the music to be in the beginning, followed by communion, then sermon and prayer
I'd like music throughout, but with communion before the sermon
Worship - style
Traditional - a formal liturgy of holy communion is followed for the entire worship; leaders wear robes
Modern -the worship is structured but semi-formal, with some liturgy, only ministers wear robes
Casual - liturgy only during communion, rest of the worship is less formal, ministers just wear clerics or dress clothes/business casual
Contemporary - no liturgy at all, almost informal, leaders don't dress in any special garb
Worship - alternative formats
Keep the format the same every Sunday
Expect worship to be the same each Sunday, but offering something different on a 4th or 5th Sunday is okay
rotate the format each week (1st and 3rd one way, 2nd and 4th another way - just like we do now)
I prefer to have a printed bulletin every Sunday
I don't need a bulletin at all
Forget paper... let's make use of a projector with videos and slides
I only like using the songbooks to sing from
I don't need a songbook - project the words on a screen or print them out
I'd be open to having words on a screen if I could still use a songbook on some songs, or have the words printed
I feel that our worship is...
for those in our congregation
for those in our congregation and occasional visitors
for the greater Clairemont community to be welcomed and a part of
Would you be willing to accept changes in worship?
Is there anything else we should know? Comments, Concerns, etc.
