Crossroads Animal Shelter In-Shelter        Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Crossroads Animal Shelter! Our volunteers are an essential part of our team, helping us provide the compassionate, consistent, and enriching care every animal deserves. By giving your time, you are not only supporting our staff—you are directly improving the daily lives of the animals in our care and helping prepare them for successful adoption.

We are looking for dedicated, dependable, and enthusiastic individuals who want to make a meaningful difference and become an active part of the Crossroads team.

Crossroads is currently seeking individual volunteers for Shelter Support roles. Volunteers work alongside our staff and play an important role in keeping the shelter running smoothly. Support may include essential daily tasks such as:

  • Cleaning and sanitation
  • Food and enrichment preparation
  • Laundry and housekeeping
  • Animal housing preparation
  • Pet Pantry and donation support
What We Ask of Our Volunteers

Crossroads does not currently offer group or partner volunteer opportunities. Each volunteer is expected to participate independently, fulfill the requirements of their role, and take responsibility for their scheduled volunteer commitments.  

To volunteer with Crossroads, we ask that you:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be able to consistently commit to a minimum of two 3 to 4 hour volunteer shifts per month
  • Be willing to make a minimum 1-year commitment
  • Be comfortable communicating and interacting with customers, employees, and fellow volunteers as part of the role.
  • Be comfortable participating in the routine physical activities involved in shelter animal care, volunteer roles involve routine physical activities such as standing and/or walking for periods of up to 4 hours, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds, reaching, bending, kneeling and performing tasks that require visual awareness of the surrounding environment.
  • Be comfortable working in an environment that may be wet, noisy, and active, with periods of extended standing and uneven surfaces
  • Be dependable, respectful, and team-oriented, and willing to follow Crossroads policies, procedures, and animal-care protocols
  • Be willing to ask questions, learn, and work collaboratively with staff to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals in our care

Please note: Crossroads Animal Shelter does not support or provide community service hours through our volunteer program.

I am able to commit to a minimum of two (2) volunteer shifts per month, with each shift being approximately 3 to 4 hours. 

I understand that Crossroads asks for a minimum 12-month commitment from volunteers.

I understand that my volunteer schedule will be based on my stated availability, volunteer preferences, and the current needs and scheduling availability of Crossroads Animal Shelter.
