The PTO at Lyons Elementary School is committed to providing our children with opportunities to shine, learn, discover, give, and grow, both as individuals and as a community. To support this goal, we have created many different events and activities throughout the school year and we need everyone's help to make them a success! Please sign up below to help with the events that interest you!
Please check below the areas that are of interest to you. A chairperson will email you closer to the event to invite you to participate.
DISCOVERY FAIR: The students are challenged to create and submit projects related to the year's theme (science, art or music). The projects are displayed, and celebrated in the school library. Volunteers brainstorm theme ideas, collect projects, and set up/take down the day of the event.
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE: Help Principal Moore to coordinate a program with an artist or art project ending in a presentation of their efforts.
HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE: collect and count food items for the week of the food drive.
Nov. 26th through Dec. 13th.
BINGO NIGHT: School-wide event typically held in February as a FUN night for LES families. Team of volunteers will sell raffle tickets, and set up/take down, serve food, greet people, and run cake walk at the event.
RAFFLE BASKETS: Volunteers needed to help build baskets and sell raffle tickets at Bingo Night.
TALENT SHOW: Annual school-wide event showcasing talent of LES students. Volunteers needed to manage children on/off stage, music and lights.
March 21st (rehearsal) and 22nd
SPRING FUNDRAISER: volunteers to support committee as needed.
HOSPITALITY: Helping to provide staff meals during Parent/Teacher Conferences.
BOOK FAIR: Book fair for students, held twice a year, to raise money for the school library. Volunteers set up/break down, and take shifts during the fair as general help.

OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP AND SCIENCE PROGRAM: Help to supervise students during teacher-led activities on late-start days.

SPELLING BEE: Annual spelling bee divided between 4th/5th grade in January and the 2nd/3rd grade in the spring. Volunteers will hold weekly practice during lunch hour several weeks prior to competition.
WORKROOM/OFFICE: Support staff by copying, laminating, binding, etc.
ART ROOM: Support Mrs. Russ before or after school prepping materials for art class.
LIBRARY: Support Mrs. Lennard as needed during school hours.
SPIRITWEAR: Sell/Market LES logo apparel at school during PTO-sponsored events to promote spirit at LES.

NEW GAMES DAY: All-day student event held the last week of school involving several activity stations which classes rotate through. Team of volunteers assist PE teacher monitoring stations.
TRIP TRACKER: Help to motivate students and organize events around walking/biking/carpooling safely to school.
Throughout the year
ECO-GARDEN CLUB: The Eco Club is a fun way for kids to participate in helping our school become more sustainable as well as assist with our garden-to-table curriculum. EcoClub meets every Wednesday over lunch/recess and after school once/month. Volunteers and students can attend any/all sessions.

GRANT WRITING: Help Principal Moore write grants to fund special projects.
Do you have any special skills, talents or interests you would like to share? E.g. Woodwork, Landscape beautification, music, etc.
