Limited funding is also available to provide Emergency Financial Assistance (up to $500 per household) for other essential needs, including housing, transportation, food, clothing, or other necessities. The award amount is based on demonstrated financial need and available funds.
1. Applicants must reside in the City of Houston or Harris County and must have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
2. Applicants must be the legal guardian of a special needs child between 18 months and 18 years of age and seeking assistance with the cost of therapeutic treatments for that child. Preference will be given to families of children with an Autism (ASD) diagnosis or other Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
3. Applicants must have out-of-pocket expenses for therapeutic services for the child with ASD or IDD. The tuition and therapy award can ONLY be used for these services.
4. Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance and provide relevant information and documentation for the committee to review.
The Program Committee reviews applications on a rolling basis and selects a limited number of applicants to receive financial support scholarships. A member of the committee may contact you to request additional information or documentation if needed. All applications and documentation provided remain confidential during the review process. If you are selected to receive a financial support scholarship, a committee member will contact you at the e-mail or phone number provided on your application.
This program is funded by a grant from the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, which was established by Mayor Turner and Harris County Judge Emmett and is administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation.
