PARENT & STUDENT TRANSPORTATION AGREEMENT

Students will have a safer trip if drivers can concentrate on driving, not discipline. Therefore, it is important to note that riding the school bus is a privilege not a right, for that reason, students are expected to abide by the following school bus rules and regulations:

1. Students must follow all instructions and requests provided by the bus driver.

2. Students must follow all bus safety procedures.

3. Students must board and exit the bus properly and safely. Students must not go under the bus for any reason.

4. Students must take their assigned seats, if applicable, and remain in their seats. The bus driver reserves the right to move a student’s seat if that student is acting in a disruptive manner. Students will keep the aisles clear and keep entire body inside the bus.

5. There will be absolutely no tampering with bus equipment, doors, windows, etc. at any time.

6. Students will keep their hands off others.

7. Students must be polite and courteous to one another. Bullying will not be tolerated (verbal, physical, cyber, etc.). Students shall talk quietly, and not use vulgar or abusive language.

8. The following behavior will not be tolerated: •Throwing objects outside/inside the bus. • Eating any food or gum chewing. • Fighting, tripping, shoving, cursing, yelling or shouting.

9. Students are allowed to bring bottled water, which must be kept in their bag. No other types of drinks are allowed.

10. Students must depart the bus at their designated bus stop unless a note is signed by parent/guardian, and has been turned into the office.

11. Students are prohibited from carrying weapons, tobacco, alcohol, drugs or anything else prohibited by school on the bus. Students, who violate this rule, may be reported to the Police department.

12. Students must follow all student code of conduct as described in the applicable Student Handbook.

13. Student Liability: Students who violate policies and rules of conduct may be denied bus-riding privileges. Students who harm persons or damage any school property may be suspended or expelled from school. Students may also be reported to the Police Department.

14. Parent Liability: Students and bus riders who damage community property will be held liable for those damages.

15. If the bus is equipped with seatbelts they MUST be worn at all times when the bus is in motion.

When a student chooses to deviate from appropriate behavior, the steps for consequences will be as follows:

• First Infraction: The student will receive a warning, which will include a telephone call home to parent/guardian by the Principal or Transportation Director.

• Second Infraction: The student will be suspended from bus privileges for three (3) school days.

• Third Infraction: The student will be suspended from bus privileges for (5) five school days.

• Fourth Infraction: The student and parent will be required to meet with the building Principal, Transportation Director and Superintendent to determine if bus privileges will be allowed.

Note: The student is required to attend school on the days of bus suspension. Absences during bus suspension are not excused absences. The parent must make all necessary arrangements to make sure that the student attends school.

Student Liability: Students who violate this policy and its rules of conduct may be denied bus riding privileges.

ACUERDO DE TRANSPORTE PARA PADRES Y ESTUDIANTES El trayecto de los estudiantes será más seguro si los conductores pueden concentrarse en conducir en lugar de ocuparse de la disciplina. Por ello, es importante señalar que utilizar el autobús escolar es un privilegio, no un derecho; en consecuencia, se espera que los estudiantes cumplan con las siguientes normas y reglamentos del autobús escolar:

1. Los estudiantes deben seguir todas las instrucciones y indicaciones del conductor del autobús.

2. Los estudiantes deben cumplir con todos los procedimientos de seguridad del autobús.

3. Los estudiantes deben subir y bajar del autobús de manera correcta y segura. Bajo ninguna circunstancia deben colocarse debajo del autobús.

4. Los estudiantes deben ocupar los asientos que se les hayan asignado, si corresponde, y permanecer en ellos. El conductor del autobús se reserva el derecho de cambiar de asiento a cualquier estudiante que tenga un comportamiento perturbador. Los estudiantes deben mantener los pasillos despejados y permanecer con todo el cuerpo dentro del autobús.

5. Queda terminantemente prohibido manipular o alterar el equipo del autobús, las puertas, las ventanas, etc., en cualquier momento.

6. Los estudiantes deben mantener las manos alejadas de los demás.

7. Los estudiantes deben tratarse entre sí con cortesía y respeto. No se tolerará el acoso o intimidación (*bullying*), ya sea verbal, físico, cibernético, etc. Deben hablar en voz baja y abstenerse de utilizar lenguaje vulgar u ofensivo.

8. No se tolerarán las siguientes conductas: • Lanzar objetos dentro o fuera del autobús. • Comer o masticar chicle. • Pelearse, hacer tropezar a otros, empujar, decir palabrotas o gritar.

9. Se permite a los estudiantes llevar agua embotellada, la cual debe mantenerse dentro de su mochila. No se permiten otros tipos de bebidas.

10. Los estudiantes deben bajar del autobús en su parada designada, a menos que presenten una nota firmada por su padre, madre o tutor legal y esta haya sido entregada en la oficina.

11. Queda prohibido llevar armas, tabaco, alcohol, drogas o cualquier otro artículo prohibido por la escuela dentro del autobús. Los estudiantes que infrinjan esta norma podrán ser denunciados ante la policía.

12. Los estudiantes deben seguir todo el código de conducta estudiantil como se describe en el Manual del estudiante correspondiente.

13. Responsabilidad estudiantil: A los estudiantes que violen las políticas y reglas de conducta se les puede negar el privilegio de viajar en autobús. Los estudiantes que dañen a personas o dañen cualquier propiedad escolar pueden ser suspendidos o expulsados de la escuela. Los estudiantes también pueden ser reportados al Departamento de Policía.

14. Responsabilidad de los padres: Los estudiantes y pasajeros de autobús que dañen la propiedad comunitaria serán responsables de esos daños.

15. Si el autobús está equipado con cinturones de seguridad, DEBEN usarse en todo momento cuando el autobús esté en movimiento. Cuando un estudiante elige desviarse del comportamiento apropiado, los pasos para las consecuencias serán los siguientes:

• Primera infracción: El estudiante recibirá una advertencia, que incluirá una llamada telefónica a casa al padre/tutor por parte del director o director de transporte.

• Segunda Infracción: El estudiante será suspendido de los privilegios del autobús por tres (3) días escolares.

• Tercera infracción: El estudiante será suspendido de los privilegios del autobús por (5) cinco días escolares.

• Cuarta infracción: Se requerirá que el estudiante y los padres se reúnan con el director del edificio, el director de transporte y el superintendente para determinar si se permitirán privilegios de autobús.

Nota: Se requiere que el estudiante asista a la escuela los días de suspensión del autobús. Las ausencias durante la suspensión del autobús no son ausencias justificadas. Los padres deben hacer todos los arreglos necesarios para asegurarse de que el estudiante asista a la escuela. Responsabilidad estudiantil: A los estudiantes que violen esta política y sus reglas de conducta se les pueden negar los privilegios de viajar en autobús.
