A BCCIC member is an organization, group, private entity or individual based in British Columbia who supports projects overseas and/or promotes an understanding of sustainable development and global citizenship through related work within the province. a. be a non-profit organization registered in British Columbia or b. a non-profit organization registered in Canada and working in British Columbia, or c. a BC-based research centre or academic entity affiliated with a recognized British Columbia college, university or School District
Furthermore, the applicant must also:
d. adhere to the BCCIC’s constitution, mission statement and bylaws e. have been an incorporated society for at least two yearsf. accept the Istanbul CSO Development Effectiveness Principles as integral in guiding the work of their organizationg. be an identifiable provincial or local organization including a membership constituency with an elected executiveh. have a provincial/local annual budget related to its overseas projects and/or international development education program of activities geared to its local and/or provincial constituencyi. Show evidence of commitment to international development education programmingj. engage in sustainable development work in Canada and/or around the world in the context of universality and reciprocityk. provide representation to and participation in BCCIC activities as appropriate and when necessary l. acknowledge that the only spokespersons for the Society are BCCIC Board of Directors, BCCIC Executive Director or a BCCIC designated spokespersonm. pay an annual membership fee
