Junior Model United Nations (JMUN) is a club that meets twice a month usually on Wednesdays after school. Students prepare for participation in Augusta University’s annual Junior Model United Nations (JMUN) conference. The conference usually takes place in March. Students will choose a UN member state and conduct research prior to the conference in order to debate, negotiate, and work towards realistic solutions to real world problems. At the conference, JMUN participants assume the perspective of a diplomat from a UN Member State and represent their position in a day-long simulation at Augusta University.
In JMUN students learn how countries work together at the United Nations to solve global problems. Throughout the year, they practice skills in public speaking, negotiation, research, critical thinking, and diplomacy. Students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to be successful and have fun while participating in Junior Model United Nations.
