You must understand that animals are different from human beings in their responses to human actions. The actions of animals can be unpredictable. Animals should be closely supervised when they are with children. The purpose of our fostering program is to offer certain animals with special needs a chance to improve under a home environment. Fostering is not a substitute for adoption nor will we allow anyone to foster an animal that to whom we would not adopt an animal. The ultimate goal of each foster care situation is to give the animal an increased chance of adoption. The ALWC will pay for the animal’s vaccines, spay/neuter and microchip, food (if foster home cannot provide) and any medications the animal may need. Animal must wear identification tags at all times. The foster parent agrees to pay for food bowls & litter boxes. The foster animal must be under direct supervision of the foster parent only. The animal must be returned to ALWC whenever the foster parent is away from home for more than one day. The foster parent agrees that a representative from the ALWC may periodically check on the condition and progress while in foster care. *
