Volunteer Positions
Below is a list of the parent volunteer opportunities available throughout the year at Dale. For most of these opportunities, you will be contacted in September/October with additional information.
Winter Carnival
The Winter Carnival is the most important fundraiser of the year, so committee positions really make a difference! Assistance is especially needed in the areas of event sponsorship, carnival booths, silent auction, website design and management, spirit wear and more.
In order to lighten the work load and create a more fun planning process, we have created more positions with lesser duties.
THIS SINGLE FUNDRAISER BROUGHT IN NEARLY $48,000 IN ONE DAY! BE A PART OF IT!

All parents will have the opportunity to volunteer at their child's classroom booth on the day of the carnival. We are also looking for additional volunteers to serve on planning committees. The Winter Carnival will be held at Memorial School on March 9, 2019

Helping Hands General PTO Volunteer
Throughout the school year, opportunities and events may arise that require volunteers. By expressing interest in volunteering, you may receive emails and/or sign-up genius requests at any point in the school year. You are not obligated to volunteer by adding your name to this list.

Unique to Dale, this event becomes a cherished memory! Chair/Co-chair this committee with the oversight of the 5th Grade KNO Chairperson. Also you can help in assisting in planning, for example decorations, or chaperone these fun nights out for Grade 4 students. There is a DJ, games, sports and prizes. This year's 4th Grade KNO are on November 16 and March 22
Fifth Grade Kids Night Out - Nov. 2 and March 15

Fifth Grade Yearbook
Join the 5th grade yearbook committee! The process begins in August, right before the start of school. Volunteers are needed to take pictures at important school events, collect a baby photo of the 5th graders, and organize the cover contest and page layouts.
Hospitality
Help us thank our teachers and staff! The Dale Street PTO organizes three teacher luncheons during the school year: Back-to-School (August), Holiday (December) and Teacher Appreciation (May). Volunteers are needed to organize a sign up genius and send in food/supplies and for set-up/clean-up on the day of the luncheons.
Movie on the Half Day - December 5 and March 13
The Dale Street PTO puts on two fun half day events each year when Dale students can bring a lunch and stay to watch a movie on a half day. This year's movies will be on December 5 and March 13. Volunteers are needed to chaperone and provide concessions for the event. A Planning Committee is needed to prepare the permission slip/flyer, organize the movie and put out a sign up genius.
Holiday Fair and Raffle
Get some holiday shopping done -- and help out Dale Street in the process! Dale Street PTO organizes a Holiday Fair at Park Street Books in December. The Holiday Fair Chair and committee will be responsible for creating a flyer, putting together raffle baskets and organizing volunteers to sell raffle tickets the day of the event.
Yankee Candle
This fundraiser makes thousands of dollars for Dale PTO. It takes place in September. This year all sales will be online and all deliveries will be shipped to customers' homes. We will need someone to be a liaison between Yankee Candle and the school.
Mixed Bag Fundraiser
Mixed Bag Designs is one of Dale's biggest fundraisers! A variety of fun gifts such as kitchen gadgets and tote bags can be ordered online and items will be shipped to customers' homes. Volunteers are needed to connect with the company and be a point person at the school. This fundraising event will be held in the fall in time for holiday gifts.
Box Top Committee
Our Box Tops fundraiser provides a steady source of funding for Dale, and we want to make it even easier for families to participate in 2018-19. Bring your ideas for how we can improve this fundraiser (ie classroom incentives, increased number of competitions, etc). Other volunteer opportunities include Box Top collections and sorting. This is a fundraiser that runs throughout the school year. Planning will begin in September. This committee is a good choice for working parents, as many of the jobs can be done from home.
School Supply Fundraiser
The School Supply Fundraiser is a great way to prepare for the next year's school supplies! A Dale Representative is needed to act as the contact person to the Town Wide Chair and committee members will help distribute supplies to the classrooms in August.
Picture Day
Smile! Volunteers are needed for Picture Day in September to help ensure that the students in each class are organized and that the picture process runs smoothly.
Literacy Night Committee
Volunteers will help with the coordination of this one-night event with the K-8 Literacy Coordinator and will be responsible for tasks such as securing the book fair vendor, reserving appropriate space at Dale (or other) for the event, advertising in the Thursday packet, ordering/shopping for all supplies for the ice cream/cookie social, coordinating volunteers and entertainment for the event (storytelling), and advanced ticket sales for the ice cream/cookies. The Literacy Night took place in the fall last year. Each year it rotates to a different school.
Snowman Supply Tree
New last year! An easy way to say "thanks" to Dale's teachers. Get your creative juices flowing with this fun "Supplyraiser." A Chair/Co-Chair is needed to create the display, advertise the event, and get teachers their "mittens." Each teacher will fill out their own mittens with needed supplies.
