8: 30AM – 11:30AM Anxiety:
• Introduce topic of anxiety (definition, how to distinguish between normative and non-normative levels of anxiety,
different types of anxiety disorders, impact of anxiety on school performance and engagement)
• Differentiate stress and anxiety
• Review the importance and value of stress for performance
• Illustrate role of stress in building resiliency
• Activities/approaches teachers can use to encourage positive attitude towards stress, and willingness to work
through problems
• Skills teachers can build in students to increase tolerance for anxious feelings
• Recommended resources for teachers to continue their learning journey

11:30AM – 1:00PM LUNCH (ON YOUR OWN)

1:00PM – 3:30PM Staff Well-Being:
• Review of key work stressors identified by educators
• Exploration of impact of these stressors on students (I find this is a useful place to begin. Many teachers struggle to
prioritize their well-being. If they are able to see that their well-being impacts student well-being, this often provides
sufficient motivation to “put their own oxygen mask on first”.)
• Review of evidence-based factors that significantly reduce impact of stressors on staff and student well-being.
• Define self-care
• Explore barriers to self-care (including stigma)
• Use case studies to explore how we respond to competing or multiple demands on our time and energy
• Personal plan to maintain well-being
• Personal plan to identify and respond to early potential indicators of distress
• Community-based plan to prioritize well-being for all
