Here is a glossary of the different fellowships we offer:
FellowsOpen to post-high school men and women who are committed to Orthodox Halakhah and who have strong skills that enable them to prepare rabbinic texts independently.Requirements:Participate fully in the main seder/shiur and all other activities and discussions.Set up regular chavrutot with community membersSpeak or teach 2-4 times on behalf of the program.Attend at least 2 Shabbatonim in Sharon and other neighboring Jewish communities as necessary for the program. Each fellow may designate one out-Shabbat, but are always welcome to stay in Sharon for Shabbat. We ask that you be available on all other Shabbatot if possible and needed for the program. Write a summary with your Chavruta during one week of the summer about what was learned that week.Write a serious responsum in the context of the program. The last week of the program will be spent writing and presenting the responsa, and a final draft must be submitted by the morning of 11 Tishrei.Write at least one alumni Dvar Torah on the Parshah by the end of the calendar year.Food and housing are included, as well as a stipend of $500 plus travel up to $100.
Senior FellowsOpen to men and women who are college seniors and above with top-level skills in learning and knowledge of rabbinic texts.Senior Fellows will have all of the requirements for Fellows, plus:The responsum is expected to be of publishable quality.Senior Fellows are expected to mentor Fellows, Associates, and community members and to teach on behalf of the program. These responsibilities will serve the dual purpose of returning gratitude for the community’s support and of strengthening your skills as an educational leader.The stipend for Senior Fellows is $1000, plus up to $100 for travel.
AssociatesOpen to all men and women high school age and above with the capacity to follow traditional halakhic argumentation and the ability to prepare rabbinic texts with some assistance.Requirements:Prepare for and participate in the main shiur, and in other activities as arranged based on individual circumstances.Participation in area Shabbatonim is encouraged but not required.Food will be provided; housing depends on availability. Stipends are not available, but work-study type arrangements are possible.
