VTCPAP-Sponsored Patient-Centered Mental Health in Pediatric Primary Care (PPP) Mini-Fellowship: Rolling Application

We are delighted by your interest in The REACH Institute’s Patient-Centered Mental Health in Pediatric Primary Care (PPP) Training. VTCPAP has sponsored more than 100 Vermont-based primary care providers to attend this gold-standard training on pediatric mental health and has received excellent feedback from participants.

We are excited to introduce a new scholarship-based rolling application model rather than hosting full Vermont-specific cohorts. Under this model, interested providers will complete this brief application, review the available national cohort dates, and indicate which training schedule would work best for them. VTCPAP will then coordinate directly with The REACH Institute's staff to enroll selected participants, and VTCPAP will cover the full training fee.

Please note that this training is valued at $1,900 per participant and is fully covered by VTCPAP through grant funding. Selected participants are expected to make a firm commitment to attend the full training, as well as at least 6 of the 8 follow-up consultation calls. If you are ultimately unable to participate, we require at least one week’s advance notice so that we may attempt to transfer your registration to another cohort. Please note that participants who do not attend the training or who fail to complete the program requirements without approved advance notice may be responsible for the full course fee. Exceptions for emergencies or extenuating circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

After submitting this application, VTCPAP will be in touch to let you know whether your application has been approved. Once approved, The REACH Institute will mail participants a binder of training materials and will share additional logistical details — including Zoom links and information about the follow-up consultation calls — closer to the training dates.

Patient-Centered Mental Health in Pediatric Primary Care (PPP) includes two components:

  • A dynamic three-day (16.5-hour) interactive training focused on building skills and confidence in diagnosing and treating pediatric behavioral health concerns in primary care settings. The three-day live course follows this schedule: Friday from 12pm - 5.30pm, Saturday from 8.30am - 5pm, and Sunday from 8.30am - 1.30pm. However, please note that the courses run in various time zones
  • A four-month case-based follow-up program, during which participants join eight bi-monthly one-hour consultation calls with national primary care and child/adolescent psychiatry experts to reinforce learning and support implementation in practice.

Please check The REACH Institute website for continuing education information.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at vtcpap@vtcpap.com

Please note that we will have a limited number of scholarship slots available each year, and applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The PPP Program trains primary care providers how to assess, diagnose, and treat common mental health issues themselves, saving referrals to mental health specialists for more complex cases. What impact will receiving a scholarship for the PPP Program have on you and the patients you serve? What impact will it have on your community?

(Successful applicants typically write at least 3-4 sentences.)
*
Please review the available training dates and indicate your top choice(s) for attendance. Please note that courses run in various time zones, so be sure to consider the timing carefully when selecting your preferred cohort(s).  *
Can you commit to attending at least 6 out of 8 scheduled, one- hour, case-based group learning Zoom conference calls following the PPP Program?

Note: These calls occur twice monthly over a four month period. Participants are polled to determine the best call group time. Calls occur on weekdays, typically around early morning or lunchtime.
