I'm curious about a recorded conference format where presenters talk through their slides with an interviewer. I think this might replace some of the engagement, live feedback, and Q&A you'd get from an in-person presentation.
If you'd like to try giving a talk that way, please register your interest via this form.
To start with, I (Avi Bryant) will be the interviewer. This will work best if the subject of the talk is something I have a strong interest in. So, for now, I'll prioritize talks on or adjacent to the following topics:
* programming language design and implementation
* bayesian modeling and probabilistic programming
* machine learning in production
* the scala ecosystem
* interactive environments and notebooks
* GIS
* vector graphics, especially for CNC and laser cutters
However, feel free to submit other topics if you'd like.
If there's a lot of submissions, I probably won't be able to get back to everyone until/unless I want to schedule a recording session.
Also, we might just do one or two of these and decide it's a bad idea. (In which case I will at least let everyone know that).
