Opinions on Music Notation & Scores

Short version: I'll be designing new music notation fonts and am interested in hearing opinions on various aspects of scores you've used. If you'd prefer, you can send your opinions via email: music-survey@slantedhall.com

After a 20+ year hiatus, I returned to type design. I started out designing music symbol fonts, back then, for my music notation software research and development. One of my next type design projects will be creating new fonts for use within music notation programs (e.g., Noteability Pro, Sibelius, Finale, LilyPond, MusiXTeX, MuseScore, and Steinberg's unnamed in-development scoring application by former Sibelius engineers). Ideally, I'd like at least one of the projects to be useful for orchestral scores. So, I'm reaching out to fellow musicians, former colleagues, friends, and others to hear what they like and don't like about scores they've used.

All these questions should be considered from a music notation/engraving viewpoint. All fields are optional.

When possible please include publication details (musical score, publisher, year, URL, ISBN, etc.). Include a URL link to an image, if you have one.

Thank you for your time and input!
