Registration for Spatial Analysis Using R

Workshop description: The main objectives of the workshop are to expose the audience to basic GIS data models and functions (read/write, visualization, overlay/intersection, buffer, distance calculation), and also to teach the difference between numeric data and spatial data to avoid mistakes in handling and analyzing data with spatial properties. This workshop also introduces R (and RStudio) as a programming platform. R is free statistical software with a large number of packages which provide spatial data handling and statistical methods.

Basic knowledge in R and/or scripting in statistical packages such as SAS/SPSS/Stata/Matlab/Octave is recommended.

We will use the lab PC (Windows 7) for the lab exercises, but you can also use your own laptop as long as your laptop has the two required R packages installed: rgdal & rgeos.
